I just read an interesting post on a Swedish web forum. It was a list on great freeware applications. So I'm pleased to rip n translate it for you. I hope no links are broken.
- Avidemux [OSS] - A free multi-format, cross-platform video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks.
- Jahshaka [OSS] - Edit video and add special effects. Module based and pretty advanced.
- HWMonitor - Temperature surveilance for GPU, CPU, HDD, rpms, tentions, etc. From the guys behind CPU-Z.
- SysTool - SysTool is an allround tweak and overclocking utility for enthusiasts.
- CPU-Z - Flawless on catching a machine's specifications. My choice.
- GPU-Z - Getting information about a computer's graphic adapter. The interface is very similar to CPU-Z.
- AVG Free Advisor - Popular AV-application in free version
- DoPDF - Create PDF documents from all applications that can print. Works in 64-bit environments.
- PING [OSS] - More advanced than Norton Ghost, but free!
- Pidgin [OSS] - Chat client supporting many of the chat protocols out there. Development going rapidly fast. Check it out!
- Online Armor Free Firewall - Now only offering this free complementary version. Good reviews however.
- Vokabel - A real simple study helping application in learning vocables.
- ImgBurn - Lightweight CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application that everyone should have in their toolkit.
- Abi Word - Very neat and smooth word processor.
- Exact Audio Copy - Probably the most popular CD-ripper in the world.
- InfraRecorder - Like Nero but without all that unnecessary stuff.
- QuickSFV - A tool for checking/making SFV checksums. Nice one.
- Gnuplot [OSS] - Command-line driven interactive data and function plotting utility for UNIX, IBM OS/2, MS Windows, DOS, Macintosh, VMS, Atari and many other platforms. Can (in opposite to Excel) calculate and build diagrams from outside variables.
- hMailServer [OSS] - Free mail server for Windows.
- nLite - Conform your own Win 2K/XP/Server 2K3 install, built by custom needs.
- Comodo Backup - Advanced but still easy-to-use backup/sync application. Can do FTP backup.
- HD Tune - Application for reading SMART information on harddrive, benchmarking, and search for errors.
- Steganos LockNote [OSS] - As the ordinary Notepad, but it encrypts your text and password-protects it.
- Dexpot - Makes simontanous desktops possible with Windows.
- EditPad Lite - Simple to use. My choice.
- Notepad++ - Is told to be a simple, fast, and extensive text editor. Havn't tried it.
